NON-BLOOD RELATED BROTHER

Yeah my homeboy Ruben is like my older brother. Ruben is 22 years old and he's always been there for me no matter what, through hard and rough times. I met him when I was 12 years old, so we've known each other for a really long time. Everytime I need someone to talk to I just call him and he shows up to pick me up, and takes me out to go hang out and talk. Everytime we have family events he is there because he is like family to us. My family really likes him and they don't mind him hanging out with us since he is really close to most of us. He is a good guy. He has never disrespected me or anybody from my family. He is the kind of person that gets along with everybody.

Calendar Sister (MAY)

May is August's sister. May gives grins to let people know that she's not an altogether normal person. May is a sensitive person. She is really empathetic. She cries alot over lots of things.

Over The Long Weekend

Over the long weekend I hung out with my family and hung out with my mentor. On Saturday I went to Portland with my sister's family to go shopping. Sunday I went to church in the morning then after church I hung out with my girl. Monday I spent most of my time arguing with my girl about some problems that are going on between us. Now it's Tuesday and I'm here in class, bored.

My Opinion on Secret Life Of Bees

I don't like this book because it is really confusing for me. I like books that are easy to understand and this book is hard for me to understand. I also don't really like this book because it goes from one thing to another, and I like books that just go straight through.

The Queen Bee

I do not remember who the characters are and what they are like. I do pay attention when you read it's just that its hard for me to keep all the information in my head so I don't remember anything.

Honey Bees

1.They make plenty of honey so they will have plenty of food for times when flower nectar is unavailable, such as winter.

2.Honeybees have a bright color pattern to warn potential predators (or honey thieves that they have a weapon to defend themselves.

3.There is only one queen in a hive and her main purpose in life is to make more bees. She can lay over 1,500 eggs per day and will live up to two to eight years.

Secret Life Of Bees

1.They lived in a Pink house that remained a scorched shock on the back of her eyelids.

She writes differently than I would. If i were to write a story explaing how my house looks i wouldn't write exactly everything, I would just write the important things people want to know about the house. I would use different words. I wouldn't use so much detail like she did.

ABOUT THE HOMIE RUBEN

My homeboy Ruben is a funny person. Every time we are kicking it he's always cracking some really funny jokes. I don't think there is ever really a time when he can be serious. He is a caring person. Whenever somebody that he knows is in need of help he's always there to find a way to help them with whatever they need. He has a lot of respect for others. No matter who it is he respects them but if they disrespect him in anyway then they lose his respect. He hates school because he says it's boring, so he never goes. He enjoys playing basketball. He plays on a city league. He lives with his grandma and grandpa in Canby. He is 22 years old.

Sue Monk Kidd was born and raised in a tiny town called Sylvester, Georgia. Her first novel was called The Secret Life Of Bees. When she was a child she realized she wanted to become a writer after listening to all her fathers imaginative stories. She went to college to become a nurse and she graduated in 1970 from Texas Christian University. She worked as a registered nurse when she was in her twenties. She had 2 children named Bob and Ann. She was married to Sanford (Sandy) Kidd.

Civil Rights Movement

In the civil rights movement there was something that happened when Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat to a white person on a city bus in Alabama. After all this happened there was a boycott and there was also a big march that they did to show that it was wrong that Rosa parks was arrested for not giving up her seat to a white man. The legendary events, however, did not cause the modern Civil Rights Movement, but were instead important moments in a campaign of direct action that began two decades before the first sit-in demonstration.

MY STORY

It was the middle of the night and suddenly I remembered that I forgot to lock the front door, so I got out of bed and went to lock the door, and after I locked it i went back to bed but i could sleep so I got back out of bed and turned on the t.v and watched t.v for awhile. The Ten o'clock.

Pat had a dream a couple nights ago. The dream was that his grandma was hanging out with all the family at her house. It was weird because his grandma passed away a year ago from cancer. But yeah the dream was just about him, his grandma, and all of the family at her house hanging out.

20 YEARS TO MY AGE...

Hi, my name is Jesse Plata. I am 38 years old and I live with my wife and my 4 children. I have 2 boys and 2 girls. The ages are 3, 9, 12, and 15. Their names are Mario, Jose, Veronica, and Daisy. We are currently living in a 3 story house in San Diego California. We live in a really good neighborhood. I have my own buisness. I own a tattoo shop here in San Diego California called MR.PLATA'S TATTOOING. I drive a convertable, black 63 impala. That's the car I drive on the weekends when it's a hot day and the sun is out. I have a white Hummer that I drive to work in and that the family and I drive around in. I also volunteer at a boys home for kids that can't stay out of trouble on the streets. I go there on the weekends to help out with the boys that are in the home. I just talk with them and try to tell them that there's something better to do out there than go do what they did that landed them in that home. I have a lot of friends here in San Diego and also in Pomona. Most of my friends have jobs and don't do drugs. But there are a couple of them that are out there doing drugs and committing crimes, but those are the ones I try stay away from.

MY SUPER POWER

The one super power I would like to have is to be able to make the rules on my probation agreement. I would like to have this power because on the probation agreement I would be able to put easy rules for myself instead of my probation officer putting lots of rules that I don't like to follow. My life would be way better because I would be able to do what I want instead of worrying about going by my P.O's rules. I can go by my own rules.

This I Believe

I believe that family is important. Family should always be there for each other no matter what. There was a situation in the past that made me realize that family is important.

I remember the day when I got jumped into a gang. A couple of my cousins didn't like me because they were from the opposite gang I was in. Both gangs were rivals, so we didn't talk. I remember one day when I was walking down Lancaster a car full of rival gang members pulled up on me, hopped out of the car with bats, knives, and crow bars and started chasing me towards Market Street where some of my cousins live. I ran over there and when I got there, they asked me why I was going to their house when we didn't get along. I told them what had happened and they said, "I know we're from rival gangs but I think it's about time we act like real family and stop letting all this gang crap get in the middle of us," and so after we were done talking we went to go look for the guys who tried to run up on me. After all that was done we started getting along.

So that is why I think family is important because they will always be there for you no matter what. There are a lot of people that don't get along with somebody from their family, but that doesn't last very long because after awhile they will get over all that hate and start getting along again. They know that they can't hate each other forever since they're family.

STANDING UP FOR FAMILY

Yes, I think it is really important to stand up for your family because your family is always there for you and they will always will be there to back you up. So you should also do the same for them.

EXAMPLE:About 2 years ago my little cousin was getting punked around by some older fools so he came to me and told me. I called up my older cousins and we stood up for him.

RECENT NEWS

A couple nights ago when I was watching the news they were talking about a 8 year old girl that was missing in Tracy, California. They found her body chopped up in pieces in a duffle bag. I think it's really messed up how somebody would do that to a little girl.

IF THERE WERE NO LAW

If there were no laws I think there would be more things popping off on the streets. I also think if there were no laws people wouldn't care about anything anymore. They would just start going crazy and doing all kinds of bad things. Like killing people, raping people, breaking into houses, and the death rate would go up way higher.

Spring Break

My spring break was good I went to a concert of LiL Rob, Kilo, LiL One, Gemini, and Kid Frost it was really fun. I also hung out with my family and spent alot of time with them. Then on Sunday we had a barbecue at my mom's house since it was a nice day and invited alot of our family to come over, eat and just hang out and spend time together.

MY FAVORITE MOVIE. WHY?

My favorite movie is American Me because it is a movie that is based in the San Quentin prison. The movie is based on gang violence and drugs, and I really enjoy watching those kinds of movies. I like the movie because it has a lot of violence.
